About Mayra:

Mayra Mendoza received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Universidad Metropolitana in Mexico City and her master’s degree in school counseling from University of Wyoming. She has worked for Carbon County Counseling Center, now High Country Behavioral Health, as a therapist since 2012 and is the current treatment supervisor at that location.  During that time, she has worked with a wide variety of clients, including those who struggle with severe mental illness, anxiety, depression, addiction, stress, and trauma. 

Mayra utilizes a variety of psycho-therapeutic and evidenced-based approaches with her clients; including DBT, CBT, ACT, and other evidence-based treatment modalities. She particularly enjoys working with adults, adolescents and children who struggle with anxiety, depression and/or substance use disorders.  

Mayra is dedicated to helping others reach their highest potential. Her personality allows her to be genuine, supportive, and create strong therapeutic alliances that empower her clients to believe in themselves and achieve results 

Mayra believes in treating the whole person -mind, body, spirit, and environment. Allowing clients to work at their own pace, utilizing their own strengths and abilities to overcome challenges. Practicing a continuum of treatments, always beginning with the safest and least invasive as possible. 

In her free time, Mayra enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends. She also enjoys cooking, learning new things, yoga practice, hiking and being outdoors.
