About Shaylene:

Shaylene Peninger has been practicing in the mental health field since 2004. Shaylene received her undergraduate degree from Idaho State University in social work. While she was completing her undergraduate program, she worked with autistic children. After graduating, Shaylene worked as a case manager and a psychosocial rehabilitation worker at High Country Behavioral Health. While working at High Country Behavioral Health, she earned her master’s degree in social work from Northwest Nazarene University.

Shaylene specializes in completing comprehensive diagnostic assessments, GAIN I assessments, American Society of Addiction Medicine recommendations, and working with adults and adolescents that struggle with depression and anxiety disorders. Shaylene has experience with family conflict and family mediation. She also has experience with relationship issues, psychosis, suicidal ideation, ADHD, anger management, bipolar disorder, divorce, and blended family issues, postpartum issues, and women’s issues. Shaylene focuses on strengths-based and person-centered approach when working with clients. She uses therapeutic techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, psychoanalysis, family therapy, family mediation, motivational interviewing, and solution focused therapy.

Shaylene enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, who are her pride and joy. She loves the outdoors and being in nature. Shaylene is passionate about photography and painting. She enjoys playing the drums and is convinced that she will one day be in a heavy metal band!
