Graduate Education:
Masters in Counseling - Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy - Idaho State University
Professional Licenses:
Licensed Professional Counselor
Counseling Services/Specialties:
Tristan works primarily with adults and teens (12+) with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, anxiety, and depression. She also works with individuals with OCD, bipolar I and II disorders, and personality disorders (focusing specifically on borderline personality disorder). Tristan also provides individual and family therapy. With family therapy, she especially enjoys working with teens and their parents to improve the relationship.
An Internal Family Systems (IFS) framework guides her work, complemented by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). It is her belief that understanding your own values allows you to live your life in a way that is in alignment with your core self and to make choices that will lead to healthy relationships, work-life balance, and the ability to cope with difficult situations.
Creating a welcoming and affirming environment is central to her approach, where clients feel seen as a whole and complete individual, and not only defined by their mental health condition(s).
About Tristan:
Since entering the mental health field in 2018, Tristian she has held a variety of roles outside of counseling, including psychiatric technician, CBRS provider, case manager, and research assistant and curriculum development specialist intern for a suicide prevention non-profit, Hope4Utah. These experiences have given her a wider understanding of the mental health field than what many counselors gain during graduate school. This has provided her with the skills necessary to assist her clients in navigating the complications of applying for and benefiting from social services such as disability, Medicaid/Medicare, SNAP, WIC.
Originally from Utah, where she spent the first 22 years of her life before relocating to Idaho in August of 2022 to begin graduate school. In her free time, she enjoys reading, crocheting, and hanging out with family and friends. She also enjoys paddleboarding, hiking, and camping with friends. Finally, she has a pet tortoise, who is 17 years old (who could live past 60!) who spends her time speeding around the house whenever Tristian is home.
